This one-of-a-kind dragon boat festival is the product of many years of planning by local Seattle residents. In 2019, the festival was in jeopardy of being cancelled. High Five Dragon Boat has always loved this venue and the residents that make the event so exciting and colorful. So we decided to help keep the magic alive for the Puget Sound!
Truly “Big Time Paddlin’ Fun”, the Battle in the Bay Dragon Boat Festival is full of fun in the sun as well as serious dragon boat competition! Participants spend the day on the water paddling, in the sand playing volleyball, cheering each other on and eating and drinking to support the Canned Food Drive and Food Bank of Seattle.
Teams that participate are from right in the Puget Sound, as well as from around the Southwestern United States. Local teams participate in fundraising efforts for Canned Food Drive and Food Bank of Seattle and the visiting teams get to enjoy the true southern hospitality of the Puget Sound!
Racing begins at 8:30 am and concludes between around 2 pm. Post racing celebration includes awards, music and celebration!
Spectators can watch all of the action from Bottlecap Beach from the comfort of their beach blanket!
